Nzolatima Uganda,
Africa Missions As the plane landed the pilots voice echoed throughout the cabin Welcome to Angola. It marked the reality of eight long months of prayer and preparation to be instruments of Gods glory for three missionaries (Mary Johnson, Marion Williams and I) the prayer team and a host of supporters. I was invited to minister at
the Pan African Womans Conference in Luanda, Angola Africa from
November 28, 2004 through December 4, 2004. God said that the team would
be precision tuned in the Spirit we would be seen as one, Jesus. In retrospect,
it was a miracle in and of itself how God strategically orchestrated people,
circumstances and situations to bring love, hope, peace and joy to the
Angolans.

These precious people have suffered through 30 years of civil war and displacement. They had only returned to their home two years prior to our visit. Ravished by the war, the devastation can be seen throughout Luanda, the capitol city. In spite of the fact that Luanda is situated on a diamond mine poverty and sickness are rampant. Water is scarce; drinking water to sustain life, water to bathe or to wash clothes must be sought daily. The land does not produce crops for food. The roads consist of huge craters of dust, dirt, trash and human feces. The least amount of rain, although necessary to produce a crop, poses a threat due to flooding which renders travel impossible and making it an open cesspool for the spread of sickness and disease. Land mines from the war are in obscure places made visible only by the effects of ones encounter leaving the victim either dead or maimed; without a foot, hand, leg, etc. |
