Pat Duncan
Childrens Care Pastor Paul Gideon
and In January of 2003, I accompanied
a group of five missionaries to the southern part of India for three weeks.
The team was led by Pastors Ernesto and Alvia McKenzie of Iglesia
Misionera and Pastor Hector Hunt of
Bless the People Church.
Also in the group was Apostle Anthony Mays. The McKenzies and Hunts had
been traveling to India for 10 years. They had allowed God to use them
to help the Indian people in a profound way. This being my first trip, it was all very new to me. Upon landing in the city of Mumbai, I stepped out of the airport only to encounter the stench of human feces permeating the air from the poor Indian citizens encamped in the streets near the airport. They live from day to day without the basic necessities of life; a place to live, food and water. These things are taken for granted in the United States. |

These precious and stunningly beautiful people made their home under torn cardboard boxes that could be seen along the parameter. Not accustomed to this level of human suffering, I had such an overwhelming urge to offer all that I had to bring some semblance of hope to such desperation. I understood that what Jesus died for was also for the Indian people. I was limited in what I could do for them but heaven has an inexhaustible supply to meet their needs. I kept repeating II Corinthians 8:9 Jesus became poor that through his poverty India might become rich. Rev. Pat Duncan |
